Camilo's 2015 Classic Ligurian extra virgin olive oil won Best in Class Absolute Southern Hemisphere Award in Domina International Olive Oil Competition on May 18, 2016!
That has been a wonderful boost ahead of the 2016 harvest on Monday, May 23. There were 327 competitors from the southern and northern hemispheres - and 21 countries.
Camilo's spread across the globe
The spread of Camilo's products into great restaurants around the world is a matter of great delight to us!
Mark Picone Culinary Studio
Mark Picone of Mark Picone Culinary Studio in Canada reached out to us as he received his first delivery of our extra virgin olive oil in March 2016. Can't wait to visit!
La Vie, a new French restaurant in Kamakura, Japan, has chosen Camilo oils and salts for use in its menu. Chef Ikeda made a fabulous Camilo-focused five-course menu during Joan's recent visit there when a group of olive oil enthusiasts joined in the magnificent meal and heard about Camilo's grove and oil making.
Chef Ideka and his wife Kana-San continue to use Camilo products - and have them available for customers to buy once they have tasted their beautiful food.
Caterina's Bar e Cucina & The Restaurant Pendolino
Being in two of Melbourne and Sydney's top Italian restaurants with our Italian varietal Taggiasca (Ligurian) extra virgin olive oil is a great honour! Thanks to Caterina Borsato and Nino Zoccali who have had our Classic Ligurian extra virgin olive oil on their menus from late 2015 and throughout 2016.
The oil won a gold medal at the Australian Olive Association's national show and is featured in Flos Olei 2016.
Nino hosted the Australian Masters of Olive Oil Dinner in 2016, featuring Australia's top oils in the menu at The Restaurant Pendolino, with each grower talking to diners about their groves.
Eat well! Live well! Live long!
'Stories' launched for Australia Post and featured Camilo ...
Australia Post launched a new online platform in 2015 and Camilo was proud to be featured in the 'Stories' website.
... and from The Weekly Times FARM Magazine
We love it when the media choose us to feature in their stories and The Weekly Times FARM magazine recently ran a feature on companies that win awards, interviewing Joan and other companies' leaders about why the enter competitions.
As Joan said, it is about benchmarking your products against the best - either in Australia or overseas.
"Unless you test your products against the best that are available you don't know how well you are going. You don't know how you can improve if you don't put your products out there - and yes, it is great when you are successful," says Joan.
Continuing recognition as one of the world's top 500 groves ...
For six years now, Camilo has been listed in Flos Olei – a guide to the world of olive oil. This is a great little book (well, not so little, it runs to more than 800 pages most years) that is used as THE guide to buying extra virgin olive oil. Author Marco Orregia says Flos Olei covers the world's top 500 extra virgin olive oils. If you want the content without the weight of a 860-page tome, we recommend the 'world' version of the Flos Olei app which works on iThingies as well as Android appliances.
Olive Japan - three silver medals in April 2016
Camilo was proud to win silver medals for our Classic Ligurian, Fruity Blend and Blood Orange infused extra virgin olive oil. The medals were awarded in April, 2016, in the Olive Japan International Olive Oil Competition.
